Basketball Recap: Marriotts Ridge Takes a Loss

Marriotts Ridge and Chesapeake squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Marriotts Ridge had to settle for second. They lost to the Chesapeake Cougars on the road by a 41-27 margin. Marriotts Ridge's loss continues a trend for the team, making it 12 in a row.

It was another big night for Kiery Matkins, who posted 23 points for Chesapeake. Matkins has become a key player for Chesapeake: the team is 11-1 when she posts at least 15 points, but 5-6 otherwise. Emily Brandts was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Marriotts Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-22. As for Chesapeake, their record is now 16-7.

Marriotts Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chesapeake, they will host Mt. Hebron at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Hebron will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Chesapeake surely won't give up without a fight.
