Softball Recap: Elwood Panthers vs. Madison-Grant Argylls
Elwood extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-14 in the process. They came up short against the Madison-Grant Argylls, falling 10-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Argylls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-7 back in April.
Elwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Armes, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Madison-Grant, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Considering they have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Madison-Grant's side, they let Johnna Hiatt and Grace Wood run wild. Hiatt went 4-for-5 with two RBI, while Wood went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Hiatt has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Carley Holliday, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elwood will take on Lapel at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Madison-Grant, they will square off against Wes-Del at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Argylls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
