Basketball Recap: Braden Coplan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Prairie over Bushnell-Prairie City

West Prairie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans. The Cyclones were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 49-43.

West Prairie lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Braden Coplan, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Coplan has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Clark, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

West Prairie's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-13.

West Prairie will face off against Hartsburg-Emden at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. West Prairie is facing Hartsburg-Emden at the right time seeing as Hartsburg-Emden is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they will challenge Havana at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
