Softball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-4 to the Perry Meridian Falcons. The Artesians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 5-3.

Aubrie Shepherd was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Adison Ford, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Martinsville's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Perry Meridian, their victory bumped their record up to 11-15.

Looking ahead, Martinsville will host Bedford North Lawrence at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Artesians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stars have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Perry Meridian, they will challenge Decatur Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
