Basketball Preview: Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles vs. West Pioneers
After six games on the road, Bishop Carroll is heading back home. They will take on the West Pioneers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Bishop Carroll lost to the Grizzlies on the road by a decisive 63-47 margin. While losing is never fun, Bishop Carroll can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Grizzlies are ranked 24th).
Mikey Brand put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ian Muth, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Bishop Carroll were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their eighth loss (out of 12 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 61-34, which was the final score in West's tilt against the Crusaders on Friday. West has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bishop Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for West, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Bishop Carroll beat the Pioneers 46-36 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Bishop Carroll repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
