Basketball Recap: Community School of Naples Comes Up Short

Community School of Naples was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Bishop Verot Vikings 69-18. While losing is never fun, the Seahawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 543rd, while the Vikings are ranked 97th).

Bishop Verot was led to victory by Caroline Ward and Cameron O'Halloran. Ward went 8 of 11 en route to 21 points and three steals, while O'Halloran went 7 for 17 on her way to 21 points along with six assists and three steals. The contest was Ward's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Gwen Pfleger was another key player, putting up seven points and eight boards.

Community School of Naples' defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Bishop Verot, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Community School of Naples won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Oasis at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bishop Verot, they will take on Neumann in a tournament on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Neumann comes in on nine and Bishop Verot on three.
