South Houston took Alvin into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 15-10.
Manvel's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-11. As for South Houston, their loss dropped their record down to 15-19.
