            Baseball Recap: St. Martinville Tigers vs. Abbeville Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Delcambre, St. Martinville was happy to have turned things around  on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Abbeville Wildcats with a sharp  14-4 win. The  matchup marked the Tigers' most dominant  victory of the  season.

 Logan Bienvenu made a splash while hitting and pitching. He  struck out seven batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   six  hits (and only one walk). He also  tossed a  walk, which is notable because St. Martinville is 2-1 when he allows at  most  one  walk, but 5-11 otherwise. Bienvenu was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those  two  hits gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Connor Rome, who  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with three  stolen bases, four  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  four  RBI gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Jayton Walker, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 St. Martinville  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Abbeville struck out ten times.
The  win snapped St. Martinville's losing streak at seven games  and leaves them with a 7-12 record. As for Abbeville, their loss was  their third straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 3-8.
 St. Martinville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  contest,  a  15-0  victory against Opelousas on the 19th. As for Abbeville, they also  didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  game,  a  20-0  defeat against Erath on the 20th.
