Volleyball Recap: Washington Huskies vs. James Logan Colts
Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the James Logan Colts. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 27-25, 24-26, 22-25, 15-8.
Ethan White paced Washington's offense, picking up 26 kills. White got some help from Kevin Hsieh and his 42 assists. Finally, White was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high six blocks.
James Logan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Milton, who had 11 digs. Milton is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Travis Bui, who had 18 assists and six digs.
Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for James Logan, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-9.
Washington and James Logan will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Huskies see the court they'll take on Mission San Jose at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for James Logan, their break will end when they face Newark Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on the 29th.
