Softball Game Preview: Gates Chili Spartans vs. School of the Arts Silverhawks

The Gates Chili Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the School of the Arts Silverhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Eastridge hit Gates Chili with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered since April 23rd.

Abbie Graupman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mackenzie Brown made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Deanna Georgetti, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, School of the Arts lost 16-3 to Northstar Christian Academy on Monday. The Silverhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gates Chili dropped their record down to 5-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for School of the Arts, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
