Basketball Recap: Valley Christian Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Valley Christian entered their tilt with Florence on Thursday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victor by a 90-65 margin over the Florence Gophers. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colby Jessup, who went 12 for 21 on his way to 35 points and seven rebounds. Jessup's evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyle Grier, who went 10 of 17 en route to 25 points.

Valley Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Florence only racked up nine assists.

When it comes to explaining why Florence lost, don't look at Brody Ramirez. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 10 on his way to 25 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Stenson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Valley Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 94.0 points per game. As for Florence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-2.

Valley Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 76-52 win against Gilbert Christian on the 25th. Florence has also already played their next matchup, an 86-69 victory against Globe on the 27th.
