The La Pine Hawks will challenge the Elmira Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Pine has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
La Pine managed to slip by Sisters the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks came up short against the Outlaws on Friday, falling 17-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hawks have suffered against the Outlaws since March 16, 2022.
August Walker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Jade Seymour was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elmira). They blew past Pleasant Hill 22-7 on Friday. Considering the Falcons have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Layla Burgess, who went 3-for-5 with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Weston, who went 3-for-5 with four runs.
Elmira kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.
Elmira is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for La Pine, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. La Pine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Elmira struggles in that department as they've averaged .393. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
La Pine might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Elmira when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Hawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
