Soccer Game Preview: Ripley vs. Munford

The Ripley Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Munford Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Ripley took a four-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Covington, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers' defense stepped up to hand the Chargers a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. Ripley's winning goal came courtesy of Ty Crawford.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Munford faced off against Brighton on Tuesday. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Cardinals. Munford found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: Maddox Reynoso and Eli Magan were both handed yellow cards.

The win made it two in a row for Ripley and bumps their season record up to 4-6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matchups. As for Munford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4-2 record this season.

Ripley suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Munford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
