Softball Recap: Augusta Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Augusta made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Osseo-Fairchild, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Beavers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Thunder a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. For the Beavers, this counts as revenge for the 12-6 victory the Thunder walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Brooklyn Krueger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Krueger was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Rachel West was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Cecelia Schroeder, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Augusta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Augusta and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Osseo-Fairchild, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Augusta will challenge Whitehall at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Beavers are facing the Norse at the right time seeing as the Norse are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Osseo-Fairchild, they will take on Independence/Gilmanton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
