Preview: Eisenhower Tigers vs. Goddard Lions

Eisenhower has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Goddard Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Eisenhower's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four games.

Last Friday, Eisenhower took their match at home with ease, bagging a 56-7 win over South. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.

Eisenhower's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucas Dickman, who rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also threw for six yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Dickman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Morgan, who threw for 151 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.

Meanwhile, even though Salina Central scored an imposing 35 points on Friday, Goddard still came out on top. Goddard took their match against Salina Central 42-35. The win was just what Goddard needed coming off of a 42-21 defeat in their prior matchup.

Micah Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 245 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry.

Eisenhower's victory was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 South and 1-7 Arkansas City (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.3% over those games). Goddard has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Eisenhower commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Goddard struggles in that department as they've been even better at 4.9 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.

Eisenhower was able to grind out a solid victory over Goddard when the teams last played back in October of 2022, winning 21-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eisenhower since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
