Softball Recap: Mesquite Takes a Loss

Mesquite was the 15-13 winner over St. Mary when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell just short of the Knights by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since February 27th.

Olivia Romans made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Jaramillo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Mesquite dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for St. Mary's, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 10-11.

Looking ahead, Mesquite will challenge Campo Verde at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Mary's, they will square off against Cactus Shadows at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
