Southwest EC has been on a difficult stretch since their win on the 17th. They lost 3-0 to the Brawley Wildcats on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Wildcats are ranked 640th).

Southwest EC's loss dropped their record down to 6-5-2. As for Brawley, they now have a winning record of 5-4-2.

Southwest EC will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025. As for Brawley, they will finish 2024 at home by hosting Crawford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Brawley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.
