League recap: University School of Jackson stuns St. George's in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to University School of Jackson, who took down 46th ranked St. George's, 16-13. Powers Spencer ran for three yards and caught 14 passes for 161 yards in the win.

The Bruins extended the longest winning streak in Division II A - West District 2 this week by beating the Gryphons, 16-13. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

William Welch and Louis Hodges gave Jackson Christian a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Welch threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns, while Hodges ran for 202 yards. Johnny Williams also contributed to the rushing game with 85 yards on the ground.

Gage Friedman made the biggest impact on defense this week as Fayette Academy beat Rossville Christian Academy. The senior grabbed two sacks.

Mickey Marley's team's Ryan Garner and Austin Orr have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Garner has thrown for 1834 yards this season, while Orr has 53 catches for 720 yards. Marcus Miller from the Vikings leads the league in rushing with 911 yards.

Fayette Academy's Miller needs only 89 yards against Evangelical Christian next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

The Bruins made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,287 from 1,886. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 16-13 victory over St. George's last week.
