Baseball Recap: Coalfield Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Coalfield got themselves on the board against Oliver Springs on Tuesday, but Oliver Springs never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 13-0 victory. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Treece made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Luke Treece was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Jorden Steinhauer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Coalfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Coalfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oliver Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7-1.

Looking ahead, Coalfield will challenge Northview Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oliver Springs, they will head out on the road to square off against Fulton at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
