Softball Recap: Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Comes Up Short

Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Manchester Greyhounds. The Blue Jays were not able to make up for their loss to the Greyhounds from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Manchester, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Manchester, who have now won nine contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

For Manchester's part, Rylie Young made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Young has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, Elliana Applegate was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st. Mahayla Brown was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington will face off against Fairfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Blue Jays surely won't give up without a fight. As for Manchester, they will take on Peebles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
