Basketball Recap: Greenbrier West Takes a Loss

Greenbrier West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the James Monroe Mavericks, falling 84-52. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-33 back in February.

James Monroe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kadyn Hines led the charge by shooting 62% from the field to rack up 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Hines is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Jayden Miller was another key player, going 8-for-11 en route to 19 points.

Greenbrier West's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for James Monroe, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Greenbrier West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-52 win against Pocahontas County on the 27th. James Monroe will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bluefield at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th.
