Volleyball Recap: Gautier Extends Winning Streak to Three

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Gautier had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the West Jones Mustangs. The victory was familiar territory for the Gators, who have now won three contests in a row.

Gautier was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-21, 25-17.

Mar'Laysia Applewhite paced Gautier's offense, picking up 11 kills. Applewhite got some help from Sierra Smith and her 18 assists. Smith also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Sarai Martinez Hernandez, each putting up two.

Gautier's win bumped their record up to 12-15. As for West Jones, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.

Coming up, Gautier will challenge Hancock at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Jones does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
