Basketball Recap: Mallory Murphy Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Chino Valley

There's no place like home for Wickenburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They secured a 43-38 W over the Chino Valley Cougars on Tuesday. This was payback for the Wranglers, who suffered a 54-48 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Wickenburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mallory Murphy led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Murphy is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lola Drescher was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 12 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Wickenburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Wickenburg's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Chino Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Wickenburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-23 defeat against Mohave Accelerated on the 24th. Chino Valley has also already played their next game, a 34-19 victory against Tonopah Valley on the 23rd.
