Baseball Game Preview: Armwood Hawks vs. Hillsborough Terriers

The Armwood Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Hillsborough Terriers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hillsborough took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Armwood, who comes in off a win.

Armwood was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Tampa Bay Tech on Tuesday. Armwood was the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Tampa Bay Tech. The Hawks not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024.

Zalen Hicks looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Armwood is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Rhys Brush was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Carlos Navarro, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Armwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Hillsborough's offense. They came up short against Strawberry Crest on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The Terriers have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

The victory snapped Armwood's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record. As for Hillsborough, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Armwood skirted past Hillsborough 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does Armwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hillsborough turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
