Basketball Game Preview: Elgin Owls vs. Southeast Spartans

The Elgin Owls will head out to challenge the Southeast Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Elgin came up short against Carl Albert on Friday, falling 70-46. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Titans are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Southeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-56 heartbreaker at the hands of Noble.

Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Elgin, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

Elgin beat Southeast 62-50 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elgin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
