Preview: Pottsville Crimson Tide vs. Nativity BVM Green Wave

The Pottsville Crimson Tide will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nativity BVM Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Pottsville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past North Schuylkill 68-65.

It was another big night for Letrel Montone, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Oswald, who scored 15 points.

Meanwhile, Nativity BVM scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 84-56 victory over Weatherly. Nativity BVM has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Nativity BVM can attribute much of their success to Trey Keating, who scored 31 points along with two steals, and Blake Adams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Keating has scored at least a third of Nativity BVM's points. Another player making a difference was Mike Quirk, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists.

Pottsville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Nativity BVM, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Pottsville hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55 points per game. However, it's not like Nativity BVM struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.6 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Pottsville came up short against Nativity BVM when the teams last played back in February of 2021, falling 57-49. Can Pottsville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
