Young Warriors quarterback helps team in first step to state title four-peat.

Trent Seaborn won't be able to drive for two more years, but the eighth-grader drove Thompson (Alabaster, Ala.) to a 34-0 win Friday over Huntsville in the opening round of the Alabama 7A high school football playoffs.

Seaborn was 33 of 40 passing for 342 yards and four touchdowns as the No. 2 Warriors – seeking their fourth straight state title – advanced to play Vestavia Hills next Friday. His yardage and TD passes are season highs for the defending champions.

Thompson (8-3) started the year with out-of-state losses to Buford and Lipscomb Academy, both ranked in the MaxPreps Top 25, before falling in the regular-season finale to rival Hoover.

On Friday, Seaborn got the start for the Warriors and connected with A.J. Green for a first-quarter score before finding K.B. Williams for a 37-yard strike to set up the team's second TD of the half right before intermission. Seaborn was 19 of 23 for 229 yards and a score in the opening 24 minutes.

Midway through the third, he again found Williams for a 19-yard score and added TD passes to Kolby Hearn and Williams on Thompson's final two drives.

Entering the playoff opener, Seaborn was 36 of 56 passing for 524 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions.
