Baseball Game Preview: Everest Collegiate vs. Cabrini Monarchs

Everest Collegiate are taking a road trip to challenge the Cabrini Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Everest Collegiate managed to slip by Our Lady of the Lakes the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Everest Collegiate came up short against Our Lady of the Lakes on Saturday, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, Cabrini had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Ventures with a sharp 14-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won four matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Evan Bergdoll made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Cabrini's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Bergdoll was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Roman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Daniel Kibzey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Cabrini hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Cabrini's record is now 5-6. As for Everest Collegiate, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10-1 record this season.

Everest Collegiate came up short against Cabrini when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Can Everest Collegiate avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
