Basketball Game Preview: Big Bear Bears vs. Twentynine Palms Wildcats

The Big Bear Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Twentynine Palms Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Big Bear has given up an average of 66 points per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Big Bear is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Excelsior Charter 86-68 on Monday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Logan Barden and Savion Sorapuru were among the main playmakers for Big Bear as the former went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks and the latter dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. Those three blocks gave Barden a new career-high. Ricky Alvarez was another key player, putting up nine points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Big Bear was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Twentynine Palms took on Canyon Springs on Tuesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 54-47 win over the Cougars.

Big Bear's record now sits at 3-1. As for Twentynine Palms, their record is now 2-3.

Big Bear was able to grind out a solid victory over Twentynine Palms in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 69-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
