Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Copper Basin

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Copper Basin walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts Eagles on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Alexis Hyatt and Maleah Deal did most of the damage at the plate: Hyatt went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Deal went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Deal has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Angela Graves, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Copper Basin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Copper Basin's record now sits at 17-7. As for Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-8.

Looking ahead, Copper Basin will take on Trousdale County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
