Soccer Game Preview: Irvington vs. Washington

The Irvington Vikings will head out to challenge the Washington Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Irvington's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Irvington lost 7-1 to Moreau Catholic on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1170th, while the Mariners are ranked 574th).

Meanwhile, Washington hadn't done well against Newark Memorial recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Washington came out on top in a nail-biter against Newark Memorial, sneaking past 2-1.

Irvington's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Washington, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Irvington came up short against Washington in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Irvington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
