Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's Dominican's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Mary's Dominican can now relate to. They came up short against the Slidell Tigers on Saturday, falling 3-0. St. Mary's Dominican was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Slidell earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's Dominican lost, don't look at Aurore Tortorich. Despite the final result, she had 31 digs and four assists. Tortorich is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

Slidell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lillian Simpson, who had 22 digs. Those 22 digs gave Simpson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Labat, who had 11 digs and six blocks.

St. Mary's Dominican moved to 40-6 with that defeat, which also ended their four-match winning streak. As for Slidell, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 36-7.

As of now, neither St. Mary's Dominican nor Slidell have any future games scheduled.
