Basketball Game Preview: Wake Prep Academy Guardians vs. Falls Lake Firebirds

The Wake Prep Academy Guardians will face off against the Falls Lake Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wake Prep Academy comes in on nine and Falls Lake on five.

Wake Prep Academy is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing East Wake Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Wake Prep Academy blew East Wake Academy out of the water with a 76-46 final score. The Guardians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Wake Prep Academy's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Beanie Ballman, who posted 12 points and six steals. Ballman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karly Beckstrand, who scored six points along with 13 boards and four steals.

Wake Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Falls Lake over Research Triangle in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Falls Lake blew Research Triangle out of the water with a 66-19 final score. The game marked the Firebirds' most dominant win of the season.

Wake Prep Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Falls Lake, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Wake Prep Academy skirted past Falls Lake 43-40 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wake Prep Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
