Basketball Recap: Jefferson Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Wins at Home

It was a good run, but Jefferson unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Ennis Mustangs by a score of 55-52. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Jefferson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Toney, who posted 12 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryian Eveland, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Jefferson's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2. As for Ennis, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Jefferson will challenge Broadwater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season. As for Ennis, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Whitehall at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. One thing working in Ennis' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
