Baseball Game Preview: Eminence Eels vs. Providence Cristo Rey Wolves

The Eminence Eels will take on the Providence Cristo Rey Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Eminence has given up an average of 18.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Friday just wasn't the day for Eminence's offense. They came up short against Irvington Preparatory Academy on Friday, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Eels' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Eminence saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucien Beam, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Providence Cristo Rey and Indiana School for the Deaf finished up their matchup with a 13-13 draw on Tuesday. Considering the Wolves' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Providence Cristo Rey's tie makes their record 1-6-1 this season. As for Eminence, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Eminence has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Providence Cristo Rey struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Eminence took their win against Providence Cristo Rey in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 30-4 score. Will the Eels repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
