Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is El Modena's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

El Modena won against Esperanza on Tuesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Vanguards never let the Pacifica Mariners get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 4-3 win back in April.

Not much got past Sara Pinedo, who gave up just two hits to keep Pacifica off the board. Pinedo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Parker Mayes, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

El Modena is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Pacifica, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10.

Coincidentally, El Modena and Pacifica will both be playing Cypress the next time they take the field. The Vanguards will head out to face the Centurions at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Mariners will head out to face them at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
