Basketball Game Preview: Taft Wildcats vs. Kennedy Thunderbirds

The Taft Wildcats will take on the Kennedy Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Taft knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Kennedy likes a good challenge.

It was a proper cat-fight when Taft challenged Delano on Thursday. Taft strolled past Delano with points to spare, taking the game 56-37.

Ernie Laulu continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11 for 15 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nick Andrade, who went 10 of 17 en route to 21 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Kennedy came into Saturday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Kings Christian by a score of 44-34 on Saturday.

Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Taft, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Taft was able to grind out a solid victory over Kennedy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 54-47. Will Taft repeat their success, or does Kennedy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
