League recap: Yuma Catholic's Koppinger delivers best pitching performance from past week

IV Section III league recap: 5/21/12

Yuma Catholic's Matt Koppinger was the best pitcher in the league this week. He picked up two wins and 21 strikeouts.

Brendon Evans was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .462 average with seven RBIs. The Shamrocks compiled a record of 0-0 in that time.

Yuma Catholic boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Shamrocks have given up a mere 137 hits on the year, while striking out 167 opposing hitters. Koppinger is the leader in that category with 62 Ks on the season.

Yuma Catholic, the season leader in runs scored at 265, added to its total with a league-high 32 runs this week. Wade Mcbride leads the team with 34 runs scored and Evans has a team-high 31 RBIs on the year.

Brady Sorenson led the league with nine hits this week for Yuma Catholic. His 33 hits for the year are eigth in the league, and he boasts a .516 batting average.
