Softball Recap: Licking Valley Beats Granville for Their Third Straight Victory

Licking Valley won the last time they faced Granville and things went their way on Monday too. The Panthers blew past the Blue Aces 13-2. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Emory Whisner made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Alexa Gilliam was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games. Addison Justice was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for Licking Valley, bringing their record up to 14-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Granville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Licking Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-0 victory against Lakewood on the 30th. As for Granville, they will face off against Mt. Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Blue Aces' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
