Softball Recap: Fairmont's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Fairmont put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the St. James Saints get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not much got past Brylee Miller, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep St. James off the board. Miller has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Fairmont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gwyn Schultz, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Fairmont's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for St. James, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairmont will square off against Worthington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. James, they will be playing at home against Blue Earth at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
