Softball Game Preview: Lake Weir Hurricanes vs. Leesburg Yellow Jackets

For the second straight game, Lake Weir will face off against Leesburg. Lake Weir will square off against Leesburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Lake Weir came up short against Leesburg and fell 5-1. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Leesburg's part, Rachel Chiles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. Chiles has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Leesburg's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Toothaker, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Toothaker hit this season.

Lake Weir's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Leesburg, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
