Baseball Game Preview: Menifee County Wildcats vs. Robertson County Black Devils

The Menifee County Wildcats will head out to face off against the Robertson County Black Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Menifee County took on Elliott County on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 23-1 margin over the Lions. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Robertson County had to endure a 15-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past St. Patrick 24-11 on Monday. The Black Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Henry Haag was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

In other batting news, Wyatt Curtis was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jullian Pollitt was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Robertson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Menifee County's record is now 5-17. As for Robertson County, their record now sits at 2-19.

Everything went Menifee County's way against Robertson County in their previous matchup last Saturday, as Menifee County made off with a 21-5 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Black Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
