Volleyball Recap: Maranatha Christian Takes a Loss

Maranatha Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Bishop's Knights, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-11, 25-10.

Presley Gibson paced Maranatha Christian's offense, picking up nine kills. Gibson got some help from Quinn Kaechele and her 17 assists. Finally, Hadley Casad kept Maranatha Christian's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Maranatha Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Bishop's, they pushed their record up to 22-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Maranatha Christian and Bishop's could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Maranatha Christian will square off against Santa Fe Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (454 vs. 131). Meanwhile, Bishop's (ranked 41st) will meet Cathedral Catholic (ranked eighth) at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
