Softball Recap: East Burke's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

East Burke had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Lincolnton Wolves 9-1 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Addy Fortenberry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ally Boyette, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyndal Morrison, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

East Burke's victory bumped their record up to 5-20. As for Lincolnton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

East Burke will face off against Bunker Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cavaliers surely won't give up without a fight. Lincolnton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
