While Marshall didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Arcola Purple Riders on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Purple Riders: they've now won six in a row.

Lilly Ross paced Marshall's offense, picking up eight kills. Ross got some help from Harper Richardson and her 13 assists. Richardson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Arcola, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Marshall has already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Charleston on the 13th. As for Arcola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Heritage on the 13th.
