Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from CJ Mendoza and Kellen Evans

Jacksonville Christian Academy lost against Pamlico Christian Academy back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Jacksonville Christian Academy Conquerors took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pamlico Christian Academy Mariners. While losing is never fun, the Conquerors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 539th, while the Mariners are ranked 246th).

Despite the defeat, Jacksonville Christian Academy had strong showings from Kellen Evans, who posted 19 points along with eight boards and three steals, and CJ Mendoza, who put up 12 points and seven rebounds. Evans is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played.

Pamlico Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Trent Gaskins, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. That's the most points Gaskins has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Caccavaro, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and six boards.

Jacksonville Christian Academy dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Pamlico Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-1.

Jacksonville Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-44 defeat against Faith Christian Academy on the 13th. As for Pamlico Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-31 loss against Liberty Christian Academy on the 12th.
