Softball Game Preview: Port Charlotte Pirates vs. Estero Wildcats

The Port Charlotte Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Estero Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Thursday, Port Charlotte came up short against Lemon Bay and fell 6-3. The Pirates have struggled against the Manta Rays recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Port Charlotte saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylin Pinedo, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Jacqueline Kirk was another, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Estero's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Fort Myers.

Dena Peregrin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Port Charlotte's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Estero, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Port Charlotte might still be hurting after the 15-4 defeat they got from Estero in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Port Charlotte avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
