Soccer Game Preview: Salem vs. Saugus

Salem is 1-8-1 against Saugus since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Witches will host the Sachems at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Salem came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Beverly, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Salem can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Beverly are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Saugus didn't have quite enough to beat Danvers on Monday and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for Saugus in their meetings with Danvers: they've now lost three in a row.

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Saugus, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10-1.

Salem came out on top in a nail-biter against Saugus in their previous meeting back in September, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Witches repeat their success, or do the Sachems have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
