Softball Game Preview: John Champe Knights vs. Freedom Eagles

The John Champe Knights will take on the Freedom Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. John Champe has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 24.

John Champe played against Briar Woods on Thursday and lost via forfeit.

On Tuesday, Freedom came up short against Loudoun Valley and fell 6-3.

Paige Rowland was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ashleigh Bronowicz made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

John Champe's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Freedom, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

John Champe suffered a grim 25-9 defeat to Freedom in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
