Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy suffers sixth straight loss on the road

Recap: Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy Crusaders vs. The Master's Academy Lions

This season hasn't been kind to the Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy Crusaders, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 71-39 loss at the hands of The Master's Academy. Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-18.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah Whitmire, who scored 12 points. Whitmire scored a full 30.8% of Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Camden Warlick was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.

Aiden Holiday was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points for The Master's Academy. The game was Holiday's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ben Davis, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for The Master's Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Community Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for The Master's Academy, they will play host again and welcome Challenger, where tip off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Challenger focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 last Thursday.
